Job Description

The Director, IAM Strategy and Architecture within Secure Identity Services (SIS) is responsible for the alignment of Virginia Tech’s Identity and Access Management (IAM) strategy, and architecture, and solutions with business, operational and security requirements. The director will oversee the analysis and translation of those requirements into functional identity and access management capabilities. The director manages the Identity Strategy and Solutions team within SIS. The director will be expected to assess current SIS capabilities and provide recommendations and oversight in the architectural design, implementation and maintenance of future information technology systems and database infrastructure related to identity and access management. The director will act as service owner and product owner for assigned SIS services and products.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, STEM, or a related field OR bachelor's degree plus training and work experience that equates to a master's degree
• Demonstrated experience in analyzing business and operational requirements and translating those requirements into functional capabilities
• Demonstrated experience in designing complex systems to satisfy customer requirements
• Significant experience in software development and integration
• Experience leading teams to deliver enterprise level services and solutions
• Broad understanding of information technology architecture
• Knowledge of identity and access management architectural concepts, frameworks, and implementation approaches

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Virginia Tech information technology services and business processes
• Industry recognized security certification (SANS, CISSP)
• Experience leading enterprise level projects according to defined project management standards
• Experience working with higher education identity processes and solutions
