This position reports directly to the Department Head and provides overall operational and fiscal leadership and responsibility for the Department of Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). This position is responsible for the overall financial and business management, staff supervision, and space and facilities organization for ECE. This person will work directly with ECE faculty and supervise ECE staff to facilitate our research, teaching, and service missions. Responsible for the oversite and management control of all financial resources including salary budgets, operating and overhead funds, research and instructional grants, VT foundation accounts, payroll transactions, graduate assistantships, and tuition scholarships. Responsible for the direct supervision of ECE AP Faculty and staff to organize and complete financial and other departmental activities.
Assist in strategic planning and future growth of ECE. Manage facilities and physical operations of ECE. Negotiate and manage ECE leases and other space agreements with partnering departments and institutes. Ensure compliance with all Virginia Tech, Virginia, and Federal regulations. Coordinate surplus and transfer of used equipment. Perform long and short-range space planning in coordination with Department Head. Assist with departmental promotional activities including periodic tours and recruiting events.
Master’s degree in business, finance, management, accounting, or bachelor’s degree with the equivalent level experience and training.
Demonstrated knowledge of sponsored research financial management
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (including Excel) and Banner or similar.
Previous financial experience in higher education setting.
Experience compiling and analyzing fiscal data.
Demonstrated experience successfully supervising staff.
Demonstrated knowledge of the University's financial
systems and databases
Experience with Federal research grants and contracts.
Experience with proposal development.
Up to - $160,000 depending on experience
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
