Job Description

The Administrative Legal Assistant serves as assistant to the office of University Legal Counsel and provides support to the Office by performing a combination of paralegal responsibilities as well as general administrative support for the office. The Administrative Legal Assistant may receive assignments from all attorneys and staff in the Office of University Legal Counsel, working under the direct supervision of the University Legal Counsel.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the first point of contact with visitors and callers, resolving routine and complex
inquiries
- Work collaboratively with counsel and high-level clients confidentially, with a
professional level of communication and skill, and to creatively assist with workload in
the office
- Assist with calendar management, correspondence, and litigation support
- Assist with managing a comprehensive records system, and daily mail distribution, and
maintaining law library
- Assist with responding to subpoenas and public records requests
- Copy, scan and organize documents, as well as assist with document preparation and
case management, including management of legal files
- Serve as Notary Public
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent level of training and/or
experience
- Paralegal certification or equivalent level training and experience
- Significant executive assistant experience in a professional or higher education
environment
- Experience in preparing legal documents
- Strong computer skills and experience with a variety of software applications
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Must be reliable and dependable
- Excellent organization, interpersonal, communication and time management skills
- Ability to handle difficult clients in a professional manner
- Experience working with confidential and sensitive material
- Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision
