The Graduate Program Advisor for the Mechanical Engineering Graduate Program will provide accurate, timely advising services and graduate program coordination related to degree requirements and academic course options for master and doctoral level degrees. Duties will include offering regular office hours, group advising, and one-on-one appointments for students; maintaining program-specific resources; preparing and submitting graduate student forms; maintaining accurate data in the student information system; and functioning as a member of the ME Dept grad operations team.
Master’s degree, or equivalent experience in relevant field, from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field and significant related experience. Academic and career advising experience in a college or university setting. Excellent interpersonal skills, communication skills, and a service orientation with a strong interest in working with students. Self- motivated and detail-oriented, with evidence of strong organization and problem- solving skills. Professional demeanor and the ability to interface effectively with multiple diverse constituents, including prospective students, current students, alumni, faculty and staff. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, take initiative, and work independently as necessary. Ability to write reports, disseminate information in a clear, concise manner, and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Strong computer skills including word processing, electronic file management, database management, and spreadsheets.
Knowledge of university, college, and departmental academic policies and procedures relevant to graduate study. Experience with the Banner student system. Knowledge of federal rules and regulations such as FERPA, HIPPA, ADA, Veterans Administration.
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
