Job Description

We’re currently searching for an IT Support Coordinator to join our IT team in Blacksburg, VA, to help support the programs and services of Student Affairs.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROLE:
1) You’ll be joining the IT department in the Division of Student Affairs and serve as a support member of a technical team that services over 900 computer workstations, printers, laptops, and Apple devices utilized by 1200 departmental users accessing Student Affairs network resources.
2) You’ll be handling support requests, delegating tickets to the support team, managing the acquisition of computer hardware and software, coordinating audio-visual setups for various events, and resolving technical issues efficiently.
3) You’ll be responsible for maintaining the smooth functioning of technology services across Student Affairs.
4) You’ll be expected to act as a key support element within a technical team tasked with servicing an extensive array of over 1200 computer workstations, printers, laptops, and Apple devices. These devices are in use by approximately 1500 users within the department, all of whom rely on access to Student Affairs technology resources.
5) You’ll report directly to the Assistant Director of IT for Student Affairs.
6) You will also be expected to maintain regular communication with the Assistant Director of IT regarding all tasks and projects, as well as co-manage endpoint security through updates and patching with tools like Kaseya, BigFix, and JAMF.
7) You’ll be counted on to be a proactive, knowledgeable, and highly organized professional adept at navigating the challenges of a dynamic higher education setting.
8) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $58,000-$65,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in IT support.
- A proven professional background in:
> Exhibiting a deep understanding of computer hardware, software, and networking
principles, along with familiarity with service desk operations.
> Exercising exceptional problem-solving capabilities and the ability to juggle multiple tasks
efficiently.
> Delivering superior customer service.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with a diverse array of individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous IT support experience in an educational and/or corporate setting.
- Experience in AV setup and troubleshooting, particularly within conference or educational contexts.
- Proficiency in endpoint management and patching tools, including Kaseya, BigFix, and JAMF.
