Job Description

The Controller’s Office Financial Reporting team prepares the university’s annual audited financial statements with assets exceeding $3.5 billion. We are seeking an ambitious and detail-driven accounting professional at the Accountant or Senior Accountant level to join our financial reporting team of six to:

1. Ensure the data integrity in lease accounting software related to leases and subscription based information technology arrangements.
2. Assist in the preparation of the university’s annual audited financial statements and specialized reports.
3. Prepare adjusting entries, work papers, footnotes and schedules by applying generally accepted accounting principles.
4. Research and implement new and revised accounting standards.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business-related and/ or an equivalent level of training and experience directly related to professional accounting, auditing or preparing audited annual financial statements.
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience gathering, analyzing, summarizing and interpreting data.
• Experience using automated systems and software such as Microsoft applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board pronouncements (GASB) pronouncements.
• Previous experience in a higher education accounting environment.
• Demonstrated experience working with query tools and large datasets (SAS, Microsoft Access, or SQL).
