Job Description

The Virginia Tech School of Communication invites applications for a two-year non-tenure-track appointment for full-time instructor to begin August 2025. The new faculty member will be expected to teach advertising courses, which could include Advertising Copywriting and Brand Storytelling, Account Planning and Media Buying, Ethics and Social Responsibility in Advertising, and Advertising Campaigns, as well as other courses relevant to the instructor’s area of expertise. The faculty member will teach four classes per semester.

*This position is eligible for renewal based on the need by the university for the scope and level of services being provided, and available funding.

Required Qualifications

- Master’s degree in advertising or related field (e.g., communication, public relations, IMC, marketing, etc.).
- Demonstration of extensive professional advertising industry expertise.

Preferred Qualifications

- Significant, full-time professional experience in an advertising agency, or client-side role.
- Advertising account planning/management experience
- Advertising copywriting experience
- College-level teaching experience
- Experience in public relations, integrated communication, IMC, and/or a related field
- Advertising agency account management, strategy, media planning and buying, analytics, or copywriting experience.
