Job Description

The Editorial Producer for Virginia Tech News fulfills a key role in the production and editing of the Virginia Tech daily and weekly emails and the daily updates to vt.edu and the Virginia Tech News homepages.

Reporting to the associate director of Virginia Tech news, the editorial producer regularly uses Adobe platforms to build and distribute email newsletters to targeted audiences. The editorial producer also works closely with communicators across campus to schedule and edit campus notices, edit stories and update websites.

This position is based in Blacksburg, Virginia and has the opportunity to be a hybrid position after successful onboarding. The hybrid schedule will consist of three to four onsite days.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in degree in journalism, communications, writing or related discipline; or Bachelor's degree with experience equating to an advanced degree.

Professional experience as a writer/editor.

Professional experience working in a CMS or managing a website.

Thorough understanding and experience using AP style

Preferred Qualifications

Intermediate understanding of HTML and website management.

Experience working on email communications (writing, editing, or distribution).

Experience working with graphic editing software, such as Photoshop, InDesign, or Illustrator.
