The Department of Political Science at Virginia Tech is seeking to appoint a faculty member as a Visiting Assistant Professor to enhance and expand its instructional mission, student advising, international programs, and experiential learning opportunities by coordinating the department’s participation in the Bridge Experience program [https://xl.vt.edu/programs-and-opportunities/bridge-experience.html] coordinated by the Academy for Experiential Learning. This is a three-year restricted position beginning on August 10, 2025.

- Evidence of teaching effectiveness
- A writing sample
- Names and contact information for three references
- A PhD (preferred) or an MA/MS degree in Government, Political Science or related field required by time of appointment.
- Significant collegiate teaching experience.
- Experience in undergraduate advising and mentorship.
- Record of leadership and significant experience in the development and/or coordination of Bridge Experience-related programming.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty members, administrators, and external partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of Equal Opportunity.
- Willingness to collaborate closely with other Bridge Experience programs across the college and university
