Job Description

A distinctive element of a Virginia Tech education is the focus on experiential learning that strives to enhance the educational experience and provide students a bridge to their professional plans. These active learning experiences may be delivered in the studio or design lab, via study abroad, or in the context of an internship.


The Experiential Learning Coordinator plays a pivotal role in helping to enhance the educational experience of undergraduate students in the College of Architecture, Arts, and Design (AAD). This individual will assist in coordinating an array of experiential learning opportunities, including internships and job opportunities, service-learning experiences, and collaborative projects, with a particular focus on facilitating corporate-sponsored design projects. The coordinator will assist faculty and the dean’s office in facilitating communications internal and external to the university, helping to support the successful integration of real-world experiences into the academic experiences of our students.


The Experiential Learning Coordinator will support the college in achieving its goals related to increased access, engagement, retention, graduation, and career placement.

Key responsibilities of the position include Experiential Learning Coordination, Corporate Sponsored Studio Projects Management, Administrative and Logistical Support, Student and Faculty Engagement, and Continuous Improvement

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree.
•Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Proven ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
•Demonstrated experience in maintaining relationships with corporate partners and industry professionals.
•Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and external stakeholders.

Salary range is $55,000-60,000

Additional Information

This position would be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement of up to 1-2 days of remote work per week following a fully onsite onboarding period to support successful training and transition.

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
