Job Description

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining the financial reporting systems and financial segments of the data system at Virginia Tech Intellectual Properties (VTIP, Inc.). This role supports the administration and enforcement of VTIP agreements, provides essential financial reporting and analysis, and ensures compliance with applicable policies and procedures. The Accountant plays a critical role in invoicing, payroll, financial documentation, and serves as a backup to the Controller.

Position is located in Blacksburg, VA. Hybrid work arrangement is available with a weekly onsite presence.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal financial controls.
• Proficiency in accounting software and databases, and spreadsheet tools.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to perform complex financial analyses and manage confidential data.
