The Women's Center at Virginia Tech seeks an energetic and committed leader to serve as Advocacy Coordinator (AC) for the CARES Program (Campus Advocacy, Resources and Education for Survivors) under the direction of the Assistant Director for Advocacy Services. The Women's Center is a unit of the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost at Virginia Tech. The CARES Program serves as a confidential resource that provides support and advocacy services to students, faculty, and staff who have been impacted by interpersonal violence such as sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, harassment and many other forms of violence. The AC provides advocacy and support services to students, faculty and staff and assists with CARES Program outreach and educational efforts.
Master's degree in counseling, social work, student affairs, or related field, or Bachelor’s degree with significant related professional experience.
Demonstrated experience in providing counseling or advocacy services to college age adults.
Strong communication skills, including ability to make public presentations and facilitate training workshops.
Demonstrated experience in providing direct services to survivors of sexual assault, domestic and/or relationship violence, stalking and other forms of interpersonal violence.
Experience providing counseling, advocacy, or support services in a higher education setting.
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
40 Occasional nights and weekends
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
