Job Description

The ACCRC Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) will provide technical support to all aspects of the Veterinary Oncology service. A successful candidate will be able to foster a compassionate and low-stress environment for our patients and clients. The ACCRC LVT will provide support to Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Surgical Oncology. Job duties include but are not limited to: intake of patients, client communication, venipuncture/IVC placement, in-house diagnostic testing, radiology (X-Ray/CT/US), anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, medication administration, administration of chemotherapy agents, treatment room management, and maintaining a positive, safe, and clean work environment.

Required Qualifications

Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Veterinary Technician (LVT). Proficient in basic nursing skills and CPR. Able to place intravenous catheters and intubate patients. Experience inducing and monitoring anesthesia. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Proficient computer skills. Flexibility and ability to rotate through departments as needed. Self-motivated and team oriented. Rabies prophylaxis will be required and provided by the employer.

Preferred Qualifications

2 years working in a veterinary clinical setting. Experience in critical care nursing, internal medicine, medical oncology or anesthesia preferred. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
