Job Description

Under the direction of the Housing Maintenance Manager, the Housing Maintenance Supervisor is a working supervisor responsible for maintaining the housing facilities at Virginia Tech. The Maintenance Supervisor will be tasked with supervision of staff as they complete daily work assignments along with providing hands-on training to staff for items including but not limited to electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related system components. In addition to supervision of departmental staff the supervisor will also work with the Housing Maintenance Manager to manage contractor repairs to include soliciting pricing, scheduling work, and overseeing quality of contractor's work performed. As needed and directed by the Housing Maintenance Manager, the supervisor will also assign work orders, approve leave, and assist with administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive experience with repair and installation of commercial building systems and equipment.
• Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent related experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical trades.
• Previous commercial or residential facilities maintenance.
• Experience with computerized work order systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Journeyman or Master certification in a trade occupation.
• Previous supervision experience.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm and as needed for good customer service

The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as a driving check with a safe driving record.
