Job Description

Position focuses on providing administration and maintenance of department servers and systems; supporting basic infrastructure operations; managing assigned backup systems and monitoring tools; and providing escalated desktop support when needed along with server support for researchers. Role includes maintaining system documentation, leading infrastructure projects under senior guidance, and developing automation scripts to improve efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a bachelor’s degree with equivalent, relevant experience
• Demonstrated experience in systems administration or advanced desktop support
• Proven working knowledge of Linux server environments
• Demonstrated experience working with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
• Demonstrated experience working with virtualization platforms (Scale Computing, Hyper-V)
• Proven ability to employ basic scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
• Demonstrated experience managing or maintaining enterprise backup systems
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated experience developing documentation and communicating to various audiences

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with cloud platforms (AWS)
• Evidence of knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible)
• Proven familiarity with monitoring systems (Zabbix, or similar)
• Experience managing Active Directory administration
• Advanced knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements
• Basic knowledge of containerization (Docker, Podman)
• Advanced knowledge of Linux systems, Ubuntu, RedHat, etc..
• Experience working with ticketing systems
