Job Description

The Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) Coordinator will be responsible for coordination of activities in Halifax and Prince Edward Counties related to the Peer Recovery Support Specialist Working Group (PRSWG), PRSS candidate screening and selection, scheduling of PRSS training, PRSS placement in practice sites, and collection of PRSS data. The PRSS Coordinator will schedule and maintain minutes of the PRSWG meetings, and track completion of action items. They will participate in the screening and selection of candidates for the PRSS training and internship program, and will track candidate progress throughout the internship. The PRSS Coordinator will ensure acquisition of all required research evaluation tools and will participate in analysis and summarization of data, as well as the dissemination of research findings in the community.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should have a degree in the social sciences or related field, with experience in community engagement, programs addressing substance use disorder, and/or experience in substance misuse treatment and recovery. Excellent organizational and communication skills, facility with Excel and data spreadsheets, and ability to work independently are highly desired. Position will require some limited travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Personal experience with substance use disorder or peer recovery specialist certification. Experience in community needs assessments and qualitative research methodologies. Experience in coalition building. Working knowledge and experience with drug prevention and control programs. Familiarity with Halifax, and/or Prince Edward Counties, Virginia.
