Job Description

The Program Support Technician serves as first point of contact for the main office and two program areas in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The assigned program areas are the Transportation Infrastructure and Systems Engineering (TISE) and the Bowman Sustainable Land Development Program. This position provides administrative support to the assigned program areas as well as general administrative support to the departmental main office. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: greet and assists students and visitors; assist faculty and students with travel arrangements; issue keys and maintain key log; support faculty work on committees; assist faculty with paperwork and tracking of international visiting scholar; place, track, and receive HokieMart and Purchasing Card orders; monitor and answer the main office phone.

Required Qualifications

Administrative support experience in an academic or professional office environment; Demonstrated ability to ability to work independently and as part of a team; Work history that would exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills; Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to effectively manage multiple priorities; Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred Qualifications

Considerable experience in an academic office environment or education/training in related field; Knowledge of VT policies, procedures, and systems such as Hokie Mart, Banner, Chrome River, Commerce Manager, Micro Strategy Reporting, and DEPART.
