The retirement analyst position is an integral part of the Benefits team within the Division of Human Resources by assisting with administration, management and implementation of comprehensive benefit programs, policies and procedures with a focus on retirement plan administration. The retirement analyst works with a diverse population and classification of employees to ensure a comprehensive understanding of complex retirement plan options and other benefits available to employees.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Public Administration or appropriate field of study and/or relevant experience
• Working knowledge of Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit Plans
• Knowledge of complex retirement plan administration requirements, including defined contribution and defined benefit plans
• Ability to analyze and respond appropriately to sensitive situations
• Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations related to various retirement plan options including 401(a), 403(b) and 457(b)
• Ability to work independently with a high level of analytical ability and attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of various benefits programs including disability plans, retirement plans, health insurance, life insurance and tax shelters and the interface with life cycle decisions
• Working knowledge of retirement related Social Security and Medicare regulations
• Ability to facilitate small group discussions and to make public presentations to groups of varying sizes and cultures
• Ability to interact effectively with team members across Human Resources as well as across a diverse university campus
• Ability to utilize Human Resources databases in order to gather, analyze, interpret and present information and reports
• Demonstrated experience communicating and administering state policies and procedures pertaining to benefits
• Experience working with Virginia Retirement System and knowledge or plans
• PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or CEBS certification
Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime
Commensurate with experience with a salary range up to $55,000 per year
This position may be prominently onsite during the training/onboarding period then may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement of 3 days on site, 2 days remote.
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
