The Greater Washington DC Area (GWDCA) administrative assistant is a part-time (20 to 29 hours per week) position that will provide on-site and off-site support for our c-suite administrative office. This position will schedule meetings and coordinate calendars for the GWDCA Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff, order office supplies, arrange travel and travel reimbursements, assist with events, maintain an equipment inventory, and assist with special projects assigned by the Chief of Staff. As needed, this position will also greet visitors, answer and direct phone calls, and provide support for various initiatives occurring at Academic Building 1 and across the GWDCA and its sites. This position will assist with regional activities, regional coordination, and help administratively where needed and as assigned. The candidate will apply university policies and procedures to enter orders into the university purchasing system and travel reimbursements into the university travel system, to track and receive office supply orders, plan events, complete tasks, assist with initiatives, and to inventory and tag equipment. This position will also complete other administrative duties as assigned.
Experience with administrative support duties in a multifaceted fast-paced office environment performing tasks such as: calendaring, preparing documents, ordering supplies, and scheduling.
Ability to read, interpret and apply established policies and procedures to purchasing, travel and inventory processes.
Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
Dependable, organized, detailed-oriented, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent time management skills.
Experience in Higher Education Academic and/or Operational settings.
Experience providing support in a higher education, governmental or non-profit context.
Proven and extensive knowledge and experience applying and working with Virginia Tech policies and procedures.
Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
