Job Description

The Program Manager provides programmatic strategy and day-to-day leadership for the V-TOP Region 2 Institution-led Partnership initiatives. The role will convene regional partners; plan and execute key initiatives such as the Regional Career Trek Program and the Student Experience Conference & Expo; conduct a micro-internship feasibility study; serve as the primary liaison to statewide partners (VEDP/VOEE); supervise a student intern; and demonstrate outcomes through effective reporting and information sharing. Reports directly to the Associate Vice Provost for Career & Professional Development; collaborates closely with CPD Leadership Team and the Center for Economic & Community Engagement at Virginia Tech, this position collaborates closely with educational and workforce stakeholders across the region to advance equitable, high-impact work-based learning across the region. Represents Region 2/CPD at relevant state/regional convenings and professional associations. Attends relevant Career and Professional Development team meetings.
Full-time, exempt; based in Region 2 with frequent in-region travel for partner meetings, treks, and events; periodic statewide meetings/conferences; hybrid/field-based work typical of regional partnership roles. This is a restricted position, funded by the V-TOP Institution-Led Regional Partnership Grant. Continued employment is contingent upon available funding for future years.

Required Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
•Demonstrated experience in planning and executing multi-stakeholder programs/events and facilitating partner engagement.
•Strong relationship management, facilitation, and written/oral communication skills with diverse partners.
•Evidence of data-informed planning and outcomes reporting; ability to manage budgets and timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

•Master’s degree in a related field.
•Experience in career services, employer engagement, workforce/economic development, or regional partnerships.
•Familiarity with Virginia’s talent ecosystem (e.g., VEDP, VOEE, workforce boards) and work-based learning models (internships, micro-internships).
