Applications are invited for a full-time lab manager position in the lab of Dr. Adrienne Romer, in the Department of Psychology at Virginia Tech. The lab studies the etiology, risk markers, and development of psychopathology using transdiagnostic, dimensional, and neuroscience-informed approaches. We combine clinical, cognitive-affective, and multi-modal neuroimaging (structural and functional MRI) methods and sophisticated statistical analysis techniques (hierarchical and structural equation modeling) to examine transdiagnostic risk markers of psychopathology at multiple levels of analysis.
The individual who fills this position will be involved in all aspects of the research process, with duties including (but not limited to):
• Coordinating daily lab operations and maintaining study protocols and lab resources (website, manuals, standard operating procedures, documentation)
• Collecting, entering, managing, and ensuring quality of clinical, behavioral, neurocognitive, and MRI data
• Recruiting, screening, scheduling, consenting, and running participants through study protocols, including MRI scanning
• Supervising undergraduate research assistants
• Assisting with IRB management, grant applications, data processing and analysis, and manuscript preparation.
Training for all aspects of the position, including MRI certification, will be provided. Flexible scheduling is required (e.g., evenings, weekends, and some holidays will be required).
This is an excellent position for candidates interested in gaining research experience prior to graduate school in psychology, neuroscience, or related fields. This is a one-year position, with the possibility of renewal depending on funding.
Required application materials: Cover letter describing interest in the position, CV/Resume, and contact information for two references (no need to submit letters).
The position is expected to start in early Summer 2026. Consideration of applications will begin immediately and on a rolling basis and will end when the position is filled. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
Pre-submission inquiries with CV may be emailed to: Adrienne Romer (aromer@vt.edu).
