Job Description

Work with the Halifax County Extension faculty, staff, and community partners in delivery of quality 4-H educational programs while also supporting the overall operation of the Halifax Extension Office. The person in this position will work with 4-H youth in school enrichment, clubs, and other 4-H programming including summer camps

Required Qualifications

Experience working with youth of all backgrounds. Experience interacting effectively with youth and adults both orally and in writing. Must be well organized and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to recruit, motivate, and engage youth and adult volunteers. Must be willing to work as a team member with VCE faculty and staff, especially the 4-H agent, local stakeholders, partnering agencies, and volunteers. Familiarity and working experience with computers, including Windows, Google, and Microsoft Office Suite. Must have access to reliable transportation to and from various worksites.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given for knowledge and background in teaching or youth development, working with volunteers, and/or experience in 4-H with a demonstrated ability to be in a supportive and empowering role with others. Ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers. Ability to identify needs and plan, implement, and evaluate program impacts. Ability to fundraise and effectively market programs.
