The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) is seeking an innovative and collaborative educator to join the Clinical Science and Skills team. The Clinical Skills & Standardized Patient Educator serves as a core educational partner across the Clinical Science learning domain, contributing primarily to standardized patient training as well as team-based curriculum delivery, small-group learning activities, simulation-based education, and clinical skills assessment. The individual in this position brings expertise in standardized patient methodology and simulation while working collaboratively with faculty, clinical skills trainers, course leaders, instructional managers, students, and program leadership to support an integrated, learner-centered clinical curriculum. This position reports to the Clinical Science and Skills Manager and works in close partnership with the clinical science team, with oversight by the Associate Dean for Clinical Science. Demonstrated ability to work independently within established protocols, along with flexibility in a dynamic work environment, is highly valued.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Health Sciences, Healthcare Management, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and significant experience.
Demonstrated experience in curriculum application, coaching, teaching, or training.
Experience documenting processes, procedures, policies, and maintaining accurate records.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar office productivity software, along with educational or scheduling software platforms.
Prior experience in either teaching, healthcare education, standardized patient training, or a related field, or as a Standardized Patient Educator.
Master’s degree in Education, Health Sciences, Clinical Management, or a related field.
Experience in simulation-based education or health professions education.
Experience with assessment methods, rater calibration, and reliability processes.
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
Starting at 52k based on experience
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
