The Virginia Tech National Security Institute (VTNSI) was formed in 2021 with the aspiration to become the nation’s preeminent academic organization at the nexus of interdisciplinary research, technology, policy, and talent development to advance national security. The Institute grew from the Hume Center, which was launched in 2010 thanks to an endowment from Ted and Karyn Hume.

The Senior Enterprise Applications Developer plays a critical role in advancing enterprise business applications, data solutions, and digital transformation initiatives across VTNSI. Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this position serves as the Institute's senior technical resource for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining technology solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance decision-making, and support strategic priorities across the organization.
Responsibilities include:
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications, workflows, and automation solutions.
• Architect and implement integrations between Microsoft Power Platform, Azure services, institutional systems, and third-party platforms.
• Develop secure and scalable data solutions that support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.
• Leverage cloud technologies, APIs, and AI-enabled tools to modernize business processes and improve operational effectiveness.
• Collaborate with Institute leadership, stakeholders, IT professionals, and vendors to identify requirements and implement technology solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative approaches that support VTNSI's strategic objectives.
• Partner with the Chief of Staff to evaluate, prioritize, and implement technology, data, and business process solutions that align with organizational priorities, operational needs, and long-term strategic objectives.
