We invite applications for multiple Postdoctoral Associate positions in theoretical Quantum Information Science in the Computer Science Department of Virginia Tech at the Institute for Advanced Computing in the greater Washington, D.C. metro area.
The focus of these positions will be on quantum computing, quantum algorithms, quantum learning, quantum error correction, and quantum fault-tolerance.
The successful candidates will join the quantum information research groups of Prof. Steven Flammia and Prof. Jiaqi Leng at Virginia Tech. There will be ample opportunities for collaboration with other members of the larger group at Virginia Tech and with leading experimental and theory groups around the world. The positions will also involve opportunities for travel to present research at conferences and collaborate with other research groups. Postdoctoral Associates will conduct research in the above areas and disseminate results through journal publications and conference presentations.
• Ph.D. in Quantum Information Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Ph.D. must have been awarded no more than five years prior to the effective date of appointment, with a minimum of one year of postdoctoral eligibility remaining.
• Knowledge of concepts and techniques from Quantum Information Science are preferred.
• Experience with Python, Julia, Mathematica and quantum programming environments like Qiskit are preferred.
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
65,000 - 80,000, commensurate with experience
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
