The Parking Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing university parking rules and regulations and supporting the daily operations of Virginia Tech Parking Services. This position performs routine patrols of university parking areas, verifies parking permissions using multiple enforcement technologies, issues citations, assists with vehicle immobilization and towing operations, provides motorist assistance, and supports special events and other university operational needs.
The position requires regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, visitors, contractors, and other members of the university community. The successful incumbent must provide a high level of customer service while applying parking regulations consistently, accurately, and professionally.
The Parking Enforcement Officer reports to the Parking Enforcement Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities
*Patrol university parking areas and enforce parking rules and regulations consistently and accurately.
• Verify parking permissions using multiple enforcement technologies, including handheld devices, License Plate Recognition (LPR), ParkMobile, and other departmental systems.
• Issue parking citations and maintain accurate documentation of enforcement activity.
• Install and remove vehicle immobilization devices (boots) and assist with vehicle towing operations.
• Provide motorist assistance, including jump starts and vehicle lockouts.
• Provide professional customer service, parking information, and directions to students, faculty, staff, visitors, contractors, and other members of the university community.
• Support university events, including football games, graduation, orientation, and move-in/out, by assisting with parking operations and placing or removing signs, cones, barricades, and other traffic-control equipment.
• Monitor parking areas and signage and report maintenance, safety, or operational concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Communicate with supervisors, dispatch personnel, and other Parking Services staff as needed to verify parking permissions, vehicle information, or enforcement-related information.
• Assist with snow removal, emergency operations, and other departmental responsibilities as assigned.

Experience
• Previous customer service experience that includes the ability to work with diverse and difficult customers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to use a handheld device and printer on a daily basis without constant supervision.
• Must possess a current valid driver's license.
• Position requires the ability to safely operate a three-wheeled motorized vehicle and/or a bicycle.
• Ability to move and handle up to 50 lbs. or more.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions as needed and report to work during inclement weather conditions.

• Previous security, parking enforcement, or related experience.
• Knowledge of university parking rules and regulations.
• Familiarity with Virginia Tech campus.
• Data entry experience.
• Experienced use of two-way radio.
• Previous experience working in a higher education environment.

1. 3PM to 10PM Monday-Thursday
2. 8AM to 4PM Thursday-Sunday
