The Department of Population Health Sciences is hiring a part-time Laboratory Technician Research Assistant to work with a team of scientists working at the intersection of public health and environmental engineering. Primary responsibilities will include processing and analyzing water and biological samples in a BSL-2 laboratory setting, performing accurate data entry, sample tracking, and laboratory record keeping, maintaining laboratory equipment, monitoring supplies, and adhering to biosafety protocols. While the primary focus of this role is laboratory-based, interested candidates may also have opportunities to participate in field work and data collection activities.
This role will have evening and occasional weekend hours. The initial appointment will be one year with extension contingent on performance and funding.
-Bachelor's degree in a related field or an Associate's degree in a related field with relevant experience
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory
- Demonstrated experience processing and analyzing water or other samples
Non-Exempt: Eligible for overtime
Starting at $16.83 an hour; commensurate with experience
The successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
