The Department of Engineering Education (ENGE) at Virginia Tech invites applications and nominations for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. We are seeking an internationally recognized scholar in Engineering Education Research (EER) who brings an active, nationally competitive research portfolio and a passion for shaping the future of our discipline.
This position is designed for an established leader who thrives at the intersection of innovative scholarship, institutional impact, and collaborative research leadership. As a senior member of our department, you will have the opportunity to expand your research enterprise, mentor emerging scholars, and help steer strategic initiatives both within the department and in partnership with colleagues across the College of Engineering.
Key opportunities and responsibilities:
• Advance High-Impact Research: Maintain and expand a nationally recognized,
extramurally funded research program that advances key research priorities in
engineering education.
• Catalyze Strategic Partnerships: Serve as a bridge builder between Engineering
Education and other engineering departments, leveraging collaborative
opportunities for large-scale interdisciplinary grants or college-wide
educational initiatives.
• Shape Departmental Vision & Culture: Partner with department leadership to
mentor early- and mid-career faculty, guide graduate student development, and
co-create strategic priorities for growth.
• Drive Educational Excellence: Engage in high-quality undergraduate and/or
graduate instruction and contribute to the ongoing elevation of our curriculum
and/or experiential education programs.

from federal, industrial, or philanthropic sources.
• National and/or international visibility within the Engineering Education Research
community.
• Demonstrated ability to cultivate collaborative research opportunities across
disciplinary boundaries.
• Experience or strong interest in mentoring junior faculty and graduate students.
• Vision for elevating engineering education practice and research-to-practice
impact across a comprehensive college of engineering.
Exempt: Not eligible for overtime
