The Senior Manager of Contractual Services is responsible for the strategic leadership and direction of campus bookstores and retail services, snack and drink vending services, laundry services, The Inn at Virginia Tech, copier management services, and other support services. Reporting to the Chief of Staff for Auxiliary and Business Services, the incumbent:
• Plans, directs, and manages contracted auxiliary revenue generating operations.
• Oversees and manages operations; including marketing, technology, budget development, and execution of the contractual auxiliary enterprises across the University to maximize revenue generation and support the division mission.
• Develops strategies for increasing contractual auxiliary enterprises revenue, including recognizing and developing new and innovative areas of auxiliary revenue.
• Is responsible for vendor relationship management.
• Provides regular reports along with internal analysis of operations.
• Leads the communication, policy, and compliance duties of the function.
The incumbent also performs other duties as requested; takes initiative to support a healthy work environment; strives to fulfill the terms in the Standards of Business Conduct; exemplifies the Virginia Tech Principles of Community; and supports the university’s motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).
Education
• Master’s degree in a related field or the combination of a Bachelor’s Degree with significant professional experience in business or related field.
Experience
• Contract Management experience.
• Experience in development of business.
• Experience in project management.
• Experience leading or supervising retail and service operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong understanding of the high degree of complexity required for operating consumer retail operations on a university campus.
• Demonstrated understanding and ability to negotiate contracts.
• Advanced knowledge of retail environments, including business, marketing, planning, tax, accounting and budgeting.
• Knowledge of data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations.
• Strong financial and budget management acumen.
• Effective verbal and written communications skills, including interpersonal relations, and making presentations.
• Skill in building and maintaining collaborative business relationships.
• Skill in developing and executing strategic and tactical plans for simultaneous complex projects.
• Strong planning, organizational, management and leadership skills.
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex multi-year contracts.
• Ability to work hand in hand with multiple key stakeholders simultaneously, including but not limited to university administration, procurement, legal and internal governance constituents.
• Master’s degree plus relevant professional experience.
• Knowledge and/or experience in higher education retail market environments.
• Experience in oversight of construction.
$85,000 - $100,000, commensurate with experience
The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a criminal conviction and driving records check.
