Job Description

We’re currently searching for a Assistant Director for Testing Services to join our Services for Students with Disabilities team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re passionate about serving students with disabilities, please keep reading.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) You’ll be joining the Services for Students with Disabilities team; a department centered on access and inclusion by determining reasonable accommodations for students in the living and learning environment.
2) You’ll be reporting to the Director for Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD), in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment. 
3) You’ll be managing the operations of the SSD Testing Center.
4) You’ll ensure the seamless delivery of exam-related accommodations for students with disabilities, collaborating with faculty and staff to ensure accessibility and compliance with disability laws.
5) You'll supervise testing staff, coordinate resources, and play a crucial role in ensuring equitable access to academic assessments for students with disabilities.
6) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
7) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $60,000 - $65,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

We collaborate with campus partners to remove barriers and meet the individualized access needs of disabled students. SSD supports success through the promotion of student learning and the development of advocacy skills.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in counseling, education, psychology, or a related field.
• Three years of experience in disability services or accommodations management in higher education.
• Familiarity with ADA, ADAAA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other relevant disability laws.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with diverse student populations and managing sensitive situations with confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in counseling, education, social work, psychology, or a related field.
• Experience working specifically in testing accommodations or managing testing centers in a higher education setting.
• Knowledge of assistive technologies and testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
• Proficiency with accommodation management software (e.g. Handshake, AIM software and RegisterBlast).
• Experience in training and supervising staff in an academic support environment.
