Job Description

We’re currently searching for a Licensed Practical Nurses to join our Schiffert Health Center team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you’re looking for a healthcare position in a higher education setting, please keep reading.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROLE:
1) You’ll be joining the Schiffert Health Center team; a department centered on the health and wellbeing of our student population by caring for them in their times of illness or injuries.
2) You’ll be reporting to the Nurse Supervisor, in a regular 12-month, 100% university staff appointment.
3) You’ll be responsible for triage, assisting providers, and patient education. You will cross train and work in the following areas: Gynecology, Allergy and Medical Clinic.
4) You'll typically work Monday – Friday 8am-5pm and rotating Saturdays 9am-12pm.
5) You'll be offered a base compensation package between $50,667 - $56,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications
• Licensed to practice nursing as an LPN in the State of Virginia.
• Experience preferably in a college health setting.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing.
• Ability to relate well with patients and fellow coworkers.
• Demonstrate empathy for patients.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in an outpatient clinical setting.
• Previous experience working in a higher education medical/clinical environment.
• Computer experience including electronic medical records.
