Student Associate - Peer Navigator

Salary/Grade:

$11.45 - $12.45 / hour

Hours per week:

15-18 maximum

Duration of Appointment:

1 full academic semester (Fall or Spring), can be renewed

Job Summary:

Peer Navigators work specifically with the Academic Success Coach through the Tutoring and Learning Center to provide peer support to first year students who are taking UNV 101 I Am Miami courses.

Essential Duties:

- Collaborating with an assigned UNV 101 instructor on peer needs within the class.
- Facilitating discussion on various topics in the UNV 101 course various topics within the UNV 101 course.
- Making weekly check-ins with students in the class. Check-ins may include holding informal face-to-face or virtual study sessions, phone calls, texts, emails, etc.
- Attending relevant campus events
- Completing training that may also include MHFA, Title IX, and FERPA compliance.
- Logging correspondence with students and reporting any concerns to their assigned UNV 101 instructor.
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

- Student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.5 and must have completed at least one semester at the Regionals campuses.
- No student may serve as a Peer Navigator in a course in which they are currently enrolled.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

Applicants must submit a resume and at least two references. One reference should be from a previous employer or manager (if the student has prior work experience), and the other reference should be from a professor. If the applicant has no previous work experience, both references may be from a professor or staff member.
