Seymour Whyte is inviting expressions of interest from Site Engineers and Project Engineers for a potential major civil project in Brisbane’s northern suburbs.
The project, approximately 18 months in duration, will encompass roadworks, drainage, earthworks, pavements, and concrete bridgeworks. We are looking for experienced supervisors who are passionate about delivering top-quality results and enjoy working as part of a dynamic team.
Roles Available:
- Supervisor – Civil Works (Roadworks, Earthworks & Pavements)
A background in civil works, specifically roadworks, earthworks, and pavements, is required.
- Supervisor – General Civil Works (Subcontractor Management)
A general civil background is required, with experience managing various subcontract trades (e.g., kerbing, surfacing, ITS).
As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing field construction for your assigned work area, including the organisation, planning, and scheduling of both self-performed and subcontracted activities. The objective is to deliver the work to the required standard, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee construction activities for your allocated work area, ensuring safety, timeliness, and quality.
- Manage subcontractors and coordinate the scheduling of trades.
- Ensured compliance with Work Health and Safety and Environmental regulations.
- Lead pre-starts and toolbox talks and communicate effectively with the team.
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, ITPs, and relevant legislation.
- Manage project budgets and assist with engineering forecasts.
- Help develop and monitor detailed programming for the work.
- Mentor and train leading hands and construction workers.
- Select the appropriate plant and equipment for tasks.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and layout plans.
- Interpret logic-linked bar chart programs to manage project scheduling.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Significant experience in delivering civil infrastructure construction projects.
- Proven ability to manage Work Health and Safety and Environmental legislative and procedural requirements.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver pre-starts and toolbox talks.
- Working knowledge of Quality, IR, HR, and other relevant legislation and company policies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the use of handheld technology (tablets, mobiles).
- Ability to understand client specifications and monitor ITPs across all trades.
- Experience managing project budgets and contributing to engineering forecasts.
- Capability to interpret and contribute to detailed project programming.
- Experience mentoring and developing team members, including leading hands and construction workers.
- Strong understanding of plant and equipment selection for specific tasks.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, layout plans, and schematic drawings.
- Certificate III or IV, trade qualifications, or substantial progress towards achievement.
