Job Summary:

The Department of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences is seeking an hourly/per diem TH Staff Assistant 2. The successful candidate will:
- Greet and assist patients and visitors entering the Emergency Department (ED) at the University Hospital of Brooklyn.
- Professionally answer telephone calls, take messages, and relay them in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Accurately record visitor information and temperatures electronically upon entry to the ED.
- Utilize the SUNY electronic medical record system (Health Bridge) to create patient visits and schedule appointments.
- Serve as a liaison between the Department of Nursing and the Registrar Office (Patient Access).
- Protect patient confidentiality by safeguarding medical, personal, and financial information.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and departmental protocols to maintain smooth operations.
- Contribute to the ED team by accomplishing related tasks as required.
- Complete assigned duties and projects within specified deadlines, offering constructive feedback to administration.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with the OPD Administrator, physicians, nursing staff, and other hospital employees.
- Assist patients and clients with inquiries, providing exceptional customer service.
