Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Business Analyst, Associate is an integral part of the Admissions and New Student Programs systems team, reporting to the Assistant Director of Systems. This position is fully remote within the Treasure Valley in Idaho, with the requirement to attend in-person meetings on Boise State’s campus as needed. The role offers the opportunity to provide technical and systems support for three critical platforms: PeopleSoft (the primary student information system), Perceptive Content (the document imaging system), and Slate (the customer relationship management system). The Business Analyst, Associate will assist in building and maintaining queries, support data management initiatives, coordinate and participate in regular system testing, monitor system health and performance, complete assigned tasks, and assist with system-related requests to ensure smooth, efficient operations across all platforms.

Department Overview:

As a Business Analyst, Associate, you'll become an essential part of the Admissions and New Student Programs team at Boise State University. This department encompasses three core areas: New Student Programs, Recruitment and Campus Visits, and Operations and Systems. We are dedicated to the recruitment, admission, and seamless onboarding of students.

While this role is part of the Operations and Systems team, you’ll work closely with, and provide systems support, to all areas within the department. Level Scope:

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

Essential Functions:

System and Technical Support (25%)

  • Provide production support for PeopleSoft, Perceptive Content, and Slate CRM, resolving issues encountered by Admissions and campus-wide users.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues within PeopleSoft, Slate CRM, and Perceptive Content, ensuring minimal disruption to system functionality.
  • Respond to system-help requests in a timely and professional manner, being sure to escalate issues as needed to supervisor and/or Sr. Associate Director of Admissions.

Queries, Reports, and Data Management (25%)

  • Build and maintain queries and reports in PeopleSoft, Perceptive Content, and Slate, to fulfill data requests and to resolve data errors and ensure data integrity across systems.
  • Monitor and resolve issues with data extracts between PeopleSoft and Slate, including verifying data flow and updates in both systems.
  • Generate and run regular quality control and defensive queries to validate the integrity of data across systems and prevent errors.
  • Participate in regular data-cleanup. 
  • Serve as a data steward for PeopleSoft’s Admissions module, Slate CRM, and Perceptive Content, processing system requests, troubleshooting security-related issues, and recommending security role modifications.

System Health and Performance (20%)

  • Monitor system health and performance for PeopleSoft, Perceptive Content, and Slate CRM to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Collaborate with OIT staff to resolve issues related to file imports and exports, ensuring timely and accurate data integration between systems.
  • Analyze system performance and recommend modifications or enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Complete assigned tasks and projects that bolster the health and/or performance of the systems and/or department processes.

System Testing (15%)

  • Act as Testing Coordinator for PeopleSoft updates (PUMs), preparing test scenarios, conducting business flow testing, and validating testing results.
  • Test and recommend enhancements to PeopleSoft’s Recruiting and Admissions Module to improve efficiencies within the Admissions Office.
  • Participate in testing and implementing version and tool upgrades for Perceptive Content and Slate CRM, ensuring all updates run smoothly without disruption.
  • Conduct regular testing on current and new application review processes across all systems.

Systems Integrations (10%)

  • Evaluate, test, and implement modifications to integrations, such as File Parser and AAWS processes, to ensure compatibility and accuracy between PeopleSoft and Slate CRM.
  • Collaborate with OIT staff and other departments to resolve any integration-related issues between systems.

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Systems, including supporting cross-functional teams and collaborating on additional system-related projects as needed.
  • Participate in Departmental, Divisional, and University events, initiatives and programs.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Proficiency with computer software and technology.
  • Ability to self-learn and troubleshoot various software products.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and address deviations in data patterns.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to work effectively in both team and independent settings.
  • Ability to adapt to and collaborate across diverse work environments.
  • Capability to learn and retain complex processes across multiple system platforms.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and or relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Higher Education Systems: Knowledge or experience working with PeopleSoft, Perceptive Content, or Slate CRM, or other SIS systems, specifically in an admissions, recruitment, or student services environment.
  • Experience with System Testing: Knowledge of testing methodologies and experience in preparing test scenarios, conducting business flow testing, and validating system updates.
  • Experience in Technical Support: Previous experience in a technical support role, with a focus on troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
Salary and Benefits:
