Job Summary/Basic Function:

The purpose of the Project Manager position is to facilitate, manage and successfully implement assigned enterprise projects. The Project Manager is the person who has overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project. They ensure that projects follow the OIT project process and project management framework.

 Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60 % of Time Project Manager 1 will:
● Align projects around the product vision and strategic plan of the University.
● Elicit requirements and document future state process and functionality leveraging available tools and features. Translate needs into required specifications. Collaborate with development resources and project stakeholders to refine requirements.
● Draft, update, and maintain project documentation to meet project timelines and provide clear direction to developers.
● Prioritize project backlog and ensure continual flow of requirements for developers.
● Coordinate testing and deployment of projects, recommending where training may be necessary.
● Execute quality assurance testing of projects to validate data and functionality.
● Work with resource managers to effectively align resources across projects.
● Regularly inform stakeholders and leadership of development priorities and directions.
● Identify and mitigate risks, issues, and change processes and work with leadership to take corrective action if necessary.

35% of Time Project Manager 1 will: 

University Industry Collaborations:
● Maintain communications schedule with industry partners.
● Maintain campus communications schedule.
● Compile and analyze data associated with existing university industry collaborations (sponsorships, advisory boards, contracts, etc.).
● Assess, recommend, deploy, and support campus-wide industry collaboration reporting and coordination tool(s).
● Coordinate and plan university industry stakeholder meetings.
● Assist with making Internal stakeholder and partner connections/introductions.
● Event invitations for common sponsored events (table seating, internal and external coordination).
● Follow-up and Follow-through support post event (thank you’s, scheduling follow-up meetings, etc. to encourage tangible outcomes).
● Maintain University Industry Collaborations website.

Government Relations:
● Manage annual legislative events schedule, including Bronco Day at the Capital, Evening Mixer, Game Day events, and campus open houses and visits.
● With senior advisor and senior council, build a high impact twelve month legislative outreach strategy and process.
● Maintain government relations webpage(s).

5% Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Excellent communications skills (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
● Ability to elicit report requirements from stakeholders.
● Ability to present and explain complex technical topics and solutions clearly and effectively to users with varying technical backgrounds.
● Ability to anticipate impacts of requests and usage and provide appropriate communication to impacted parties.
● Solid understanding of project management principles and governance. Demonstrated project management skills and relevant certification or training.
● Ability to work collaboratively with others.
● Excellent time management skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 2 years relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Prefer experience in a higher education or government organization.
● Prefer advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills with complex technical subjects and tasks.
● Prefer experience working with both functional and technical users to define business needs.

Salary and Benefits:
