The International Enrollment Counselor position is responsible for admissions and recruitment of prospective Boise State undergraduate and graduate international students, application processing, and immigration-related functions.
This is an internal opportunity open only to current, regular employees of Boise State University.

Essential Functions: |
60% of time the International Enrollment Counselor will:
- Counsel, advise, recruit, and maintain personalized contact with prospective students and their families.
- Represent Boise State at recruiting events globally, on-campus, and in virtual environments.
- Independently develop recruitment strategy, including reviewing and analyzing data to determine schools, fairs, and events to attend/visit in order to recruit students to meet University goals.
- Independently schedule visits to high schools, universities, and key partners; make complex international travel arrangements within designated budgetary limitations; coordinate pre-travel communication and outreach, as well as post-travel follow up.
- Build and maintain relationships and serve as University liaison to high school counselors, recruitment agents, parents, alumni, and other key stakeholders.
- Initiate, plan, and execute event programming and special projects in assigned recruitment territories with a high level of autonomy.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and determine the need for additional efforts.
- Present to large and small groups of counselors, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Process and evaluate admissions documents, including evaluation of authenticity and equivalency.
- Review student applications and issue admissions decisions in line with International Admissions and University policies.
- Ensure compliance with Federal immigration regulations, issue immigration documents, and counsel students appropriately regarding immigration processes and procedures.
- Model a positive customer service ethic.
- Support International Admissions’ recruitment and admissions initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
35% of time the International Enrollment Counselor will:
- Plan, execute, and maintain International Admissions’ social media presence across multiple platforms, including generating content, planning and scheduling posts, responding to comments and messages, and building and launching paid advertising campaigns.
- Build and maintain relationships with EducationUSA, partner universities, recruitment agents, and other key contacts unique to the international recruitment process.
- Independently oversee the International Student Ambassadors program, making decisions related to the program’s size, scope, and programming, and training and managing the group of volunteer Ambassadors.
- Serve as the primary processing, recruitment, and admissions contact for many internal stakeholders, including the Athletics Department, various graduate programs, International Student Services, and other offices across campus.
- Evaluate and propose process improvements, particularly in the areas of application and document processing and immigration procedures.
- Represent Boise State at conferences related to international admissions and recruitment.
- Supervise International Admissions Peer Advisor(s) student employees, including training, day-to-day supervision, and evaluation.
5% of time the International Enrollment Counselor will:
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Strong sense of customer service and diplomacy. Able to understand, communicate, and explain admissions decisions and policies to internal and external audiences.

- Ability to travel internationally independently or as part of group, including navigating new cities and countries.
- Understanding of foreign educational systems with the ability to accurately evaluate foreign educational credentials for authenticity and equivalency purposes.
- Ability to evaluate and improve internal processes related to document evaluation, admissions, and immigration procedures.
- Knowledge of Federal immigration regulations, with the ability to interpret and apply them appropriately.
- Ability to initiate, plan, and execute event programming.
- Ability to make ethical decisions that account for the interests of both students and the University.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and capable of learning other essential University systems and software.

Minimum Qualifications: |
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience
