Position overview:
The Associate Dean is responsible for mentorship, support, and oversight of faculty, staff, and students, and for co-leading the development and success of College of Innovation+Design (CI+D) services and programming.
In partnership with the Dean, the Associate Dean (AD) takes a leadership role in managing the College’s financial, personnel, and programmatic success. They participate in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of the college budget, and supervise College faculty and promotion processes. They provide guidance, support, and mentorship to Dean’s office staff, program directors and staff, and faculty. They handle student conduct concerns and complaints.
The AD may also assist in assessment and evaluation of programs and personnel; program design, implementation, and assessment; college and committee service; and reporting and policy development when necessary. The AD also maintains and nurtures collaborative relationships across campus and with the larger community

Essential functions:
The AD will:

Participate in visioning, strategic decision making, and creative problem solving for the College and University

Support or oversee the development of innovation initiatives and/or programming at the direction of the University President and the Dean of the College

Develop and support initiatives empowering the innovation efforts of Boise State students, faculty, and staff

Provide strategic and managerial oversight for the short and long-term health of programs
-
Cultivate and maintain a supportive culture within the college
-
With the leadership team, collaboratively make budgeting decisions
-
Participate with the leadership team on the recruitment, appointment, and orientation of faculty and staff for the College

Oversee evaluation and promotion processes for College faculty

Participate in reporting efforts on behalf of the College

Support the College’s nascent research portfolio, in collaboration with partners in the Division of Research and Economic Development

Engage and build relationships with donors and/or the University Foundation when requested

Engage and build relationships with industry and community partners in ways that benefit the College and University
-
Navigate institutional processes and serve on committees as needed to achieve the strategic mission of the college

Act on behalf of the Dean as necessary

Department overview:
CI+D both incubates new academic programs for Boise State University and coordinates/leads strategic innovation initiatives for the President’s Office and campus at large.
CI+D identifies emerging areas of innovation on campus and in the modern workplace, ensuring that Boise State University students receive the most dynamic, applied, and relevant educational experiences Idaho has to offer. Minimum qualifications:

Master's Degree in relevant field

Higher Education administrative experience
-
Knowledge of pedagogy and curriculum development
Preferred qualifications:

PHD in relevant field
-
Minimum of three years teaching or administrative experience
-
Demonstrated competency to serve in an administrative capacity
-
Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching experience
-
Experience with launching a new initiative, successfully or unsuccessfully
-
Knowledge of Boise State University processes preferred

Salary and Benefits:
Salary starts at $130,000 and is commensurate with experience.
