Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Student Organizations Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive array of services, resources, and programs that support the success and sustainability of student organizations. This role fosters student leadership, community building, and campus engagement by advising student leaders, facilitating training and development opportunities, and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. The Coordinator serves as a key liaison between student organizations and campus partners, working collaboratively to create an engaging environment where all students can find a place to connect, lead, and thrive.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry-level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

Advising and Student Organization Support
● Provide day-to-day advising and support for student organization officers, members, and advisors.
● Support the training, development, and daily advising of the Associated Students of Boise State University (ASBSU) Funding Board.
● Coordinate the new and returning student organization registration process.
● Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating policies and procedures related to student organizations.

Training, Development, and Leadership Education
● Provide training related to leadership development, organization management, event planning, fundraising, and travel for student organizations.
● Manage the online event registration process, incorporating risk management considerations and connecting student leaders to relevant campus and community resources, processes, and partners.

Program, Policy, and Assessment Support
● Assist with the implementation, direction, and coordination of department assessment efforts related to the student organization experience.
● Assist in the support and coordination of department and campus-wide programs as assigned.
● Manage budget for areas of responsibility.

Collaboration, Engagement, and Campus Integration
● Develop and maintain campus and community partnerships.
● Serve as an engaged member of the Student Involvement and Leadership Center team, contributing to program coordination and ongoing evaluation.
● Participate in divisional and university events, workgroups, or initiatives.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Experience in student government and/or organized student activities, which could include professional work experience, graduate assistantship experience, and/or appropriate collegiate experience
● Strong interpersonal skills to support students across different life experiences
● An understanding of student development and creating an environment conducive to student success, as it is described and written about in the current higher education literature
● Ability to work within a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment
● Effective verbal and written communication
● Budgeting and organizational skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

A Master’s Degree in a field that would prepare them for college student advising, event planning, and curriculum design and development.
Experience with a student engagement platform such as Campus Groups, Engage, Presence, Corq, or InvolveSoft/Cooleaf.
Salary and Benefits:
 
Salary range begins at $50,065.60 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
