Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Associate Systems Administrator is responsible for all of the Boise State Foundation's IT support and services across its technical ecosystem, including the primary CRM system of record and ancillary platforms, software, and infrastructure. Responsibilities include configurations, data movement, and deeper technical projects such as integrations, implementations, and systems/platform management. This role involves working with platforms such as Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, Financial Edge NXT, and Amazon AWS infrastructure for business intelligence and dashboarding. Additionally, this position serves as the primary liaison between the Foundation and Boise State's Office of Information Technology (OIT) for all IT resources and needs.

A nonprofit Idaho organization, the Boise State University Foundation was established in 1964 for the benefit of Boise State University. We work to secure philanthropic support for the university by developing and nurturing relationships with our alumni and friends and stewarding gifts made to support Boise State. The Foundation works closely with university leadership, the Boise State University Alumni Association, and the Bronco Athletic Association.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity.  Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action.  May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60% of the time the Associate Systems Administrator must:

  • Systems Management: Oversee the administration, integration, operation, security, and access to the technical ecosystem, including Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, Financial Edge NXT, and Amazon AWS infrastructure.
  • Data Movement: Provide appropriate resources and access for data acquisition, integrity, and movement across systems to ensure seamless operations.
  • Technical Projects: Lead and execute deeper technical projects such as system integrations and implementations to enhance the department's IT capabilities.
  • Support and Maintenance: Monitor and respond to client requests and provide ongoing support and maintenance for IT systems, local desktop/laptop support, printers and copiers, and A/V systems, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Provide overall subject matter expertise in IT and data operations.

35% of the time the Associate Systems Administrator must:

  • Liaison Duties: Serve as the primary liaison for Boise State's central Office of Information Technology (OIT), ensuring alignment and collaboration on IT initiatives.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of systems and processes, and generate reports as needed to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Provide assistance and advice to clients in the effective use of applications and IT systems; provide training in all aspects of client interaction with technical systems, highlighting the importance of maintaining the security, confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Foundation constituent and giving information.

5% of the time the Associate Systems Administrator must:

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of IT systems, configurations, data movement, and systems management.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage technical projects, including integrations and implementations.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with co-workers and other stakeholders in a highly professional manner.
  • Ability to present and explain complex technical topics, problems and alternative solutions to interested parties of varying technical backgrounds.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and teams within the Foundation and University.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing data and systems.
  • Well organized, self-motivated; able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience or equivalent professional experience. Prefer degree concentration in: Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Technical Writing or Business.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in higher education or non-profit industry in an advancement services/fundraising operations environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or similar are preferred.
  • Prior experience managing Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT or equivalent CRM platforms preferred.

Salary and Benefits:
