Job Summary/Basic Function:
|
The Assistant Director of Student Engagement and Philanthropy plays a vital role in fostering a culture of philanthropy among our students at Boise State University. Through meaningful student engagement, supporting scholarship recipients, philanthropic education and strategic cross-campus partnerships, this position cultivates early awareness and involvement in philanthropic efforts—laying the foundation for lifelong engagement and support. As part of the Boise State Foundation serving on the Alumni Relations team, this role directly supports the mission of the Boise State Alumni Association by developing future alumni leaders and strengthening the bridge between current students and the broader Bronco alumni community.
With a focus on early engagement, this position designs and leads measurable strategies that help students understand the impact of private giving, recognize their role in the Bronco community, and build lifelong relationships with the university. Core to this work is developing student leadership through programs like the Student Philanthropy Board, integrating philanthropy into campus life and traditions, and creating meaningful connections between students and donors. This work is essential to developing future alumni donors and advocates who will sustain Boise State’s mission for generations to come.

A nonprofit Idaho organization, the Boise State University Foundation was established in 1964 for the benefit of Boise State University. We work to secure philanthropic support for the university by developing and nurturing relationships with our alumni and friends and stewarding gifts made to support Boise State. The Foundation works closely with university leadership, the Boise State University Alumni Association, and the Bronco Athletic Association.
Mission: To build a greater Boise State University, we provide fundraising leadership and service across the university and partner with donors and alumni to inspire private support.

Essential Functions:
|
60% – Student Philanthropy & Engagement
- Drive campus-wide student education and involvement in philanthropy to instill a lifelong culture of giving through programs, events, promotion, and student life involvement, in partnership with Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
- Facilitate meaningful student-donor interactions that inspire continued investment and gratitude. Guide student recipients of philanthropy to understand its impact, including why donors gave, what outcomes the gift supports, and how to express authentic gratitude.
- Advise, mentor, and manage the Student Philanthropy Board (SPB), ensuring alignment with Foundation goals and fostering student leadership and connection with the Boise State Foundation Board and donors.
- Create and implement student philanthropy education opportunities that inspire a culture of giving, build awareness of the Foundation’s mission, and foster long-term engagement with Boise State.
- Develop and maintain relationships with student government, student clubs, and campus influencers to embed engagement and philanthropy into existing student life programs.
- Use student fee allocations to support initiatives that promote awareness and gratitude, demonstrating return on investment and visible impact.
- Report regularly on participation metrics and engagement outcomes.
25% – Scholarship Recipient & Donor Engagement
- Develop meaningful donor touchpoints and enhance scholarship impact visibility —aiming to engage scholarship recipients annually.
- Professional development opportunities for students to help connect to donors and alumni in a professional manner.
- Support and manage Boise State Alumni Association scholarship programs in collaboration with the Alumni Association Board, scholarship chair, and the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.
- Provide ongoing support for the Alumni Legacy Scholars program to enhance student belonging and connection.
- Complement formal stewardship efforts with experiential programming and community-building with scholarship recipients and our donors.
10% – Graduating Student Initiatives
- Support the Senior Director and Office of the President in coordinating graduating student initiatives, including commencement celebrations and related programs that foster continued engagement beyond graduation.
- Represent the Boise State Foundation in campus-wide committees and cross-functional projects.
- Contribute to strategic planning, annual reporting, and innovation efforts within Alumni Relations and the Boise State Foundation.
5% – Other Duties as Assigned

- Skilled in project management, event planning, and using digital tools for communication, promotion, and logistics.
- Strong understanding of student engagement, mentorship, and community-building best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in video conferencing platforms.
- Highly organized and collaborative, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
- Creative, proactive, and adaptable, with a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Available to work evenings, and weekends as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
|
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years’ experience or equivalent.
|
|
Preferred Qualifications:
|
- Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred in educational leadership, higher education/student affairs, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Experience in student engagement, development, donor relations, alumni relations, or campus programming.
- Proven success leading student initiatives, managing volunteers, and producing measurable outcomes.
- Experience designing and assessing educational campaigns, campus events, or fundraising activities.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated alignment with the mission and values of the Boise State Foundation and Boise State University.

Salary and Benefits:
|
Starting salary range is $55,057.60 to $68,827.20 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
