Job Summary/Basic Function:

Web Analyst is responsible for development of a web analytics program and comprehensive SEO strategy at Boise State University for the purpose of delivering sophisticated, insightful and actionable data from Boise State’s online channels. This position will act as an expert in web analytics and SEO and will function as a web and customer advocate who will provide value in the ability to gather and interpret data and to deliver recommendations to the campus community.

This position is not eligible for VISA Sponsorship.

This position may have the opportunity to work a hybrid work-schedule, where a mix of in-person work from a Boise State worksite and an alternative work location is utilized, within the state of Idaho. Candidates must be able to work on-site as needed.

The Marketing and Communications team, within the Division of Extended Studies, focuses on the awareness and promotion of Boise State Online and programs supported by the Division of Extended Studies. The team is composed of professionals with a variety of skill sets spanning creative, marketing and content development. The team draws on these diverse talents to collaboratively achieve goals.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees. Typically hold a Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Essential Functions:

● Align web and UX projects around the product vision and strategic plan of the University.

  • Analyze and Improve Website Effectiveness
    • Ensure university web content complies with university policies and best practices. Utilize Google Analytics and other site reporting tools to analyze user behaviors, site traffic, and content effectiveness.
    • Assess site SEO, make SEO improvements where applicable, and empower site administrators and content authors to optimize their content for search and user experience.
    • Utilize university page templates to design and develop web pages that are accessible, responsive and compatible with all browsers and platforms.
    • Support other MarCom reporting activities utilizing the suite of Google properties and purchased linking tools.
  • Contribute to website strategy
    • Lead team efforts to utilize analytics, best practices, and user experience data to refine and strategically improve web design and navigation.
    • Work with MarCom team members to utilize the university’s content management strategy to assess current content and develop new content.
    • Work with site administrators to utilize analytics, best practices, and user experience data to refine and improve site architecture and navigation.
    • Lead landing page strategy by creating templates and variants for landing pages using Unbounce to support paid marketing campaigns. Make data driven decisions to increase conversions and engagement.
    • Design, develop, deliver and support web content and design.
    • Improve user experience by continually monitoring Extended Studies web properties to ensure that information is accurate, content is current, and pages are free of errors.
    • Collaborate closely with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, on all aspects of projects, including planning, content, layout and publication of marketing materials, turnaround time, etc.

● Elicit requirements and document future state processes and functionality leveraging available tools and features. Translate needs into required specifications. Collaborate with development resources and project stakeholders to refine requirements.

  • Conduct user experience research and utilize feedback to make improvements.
  • Utilize Google Analytics and other site reporting tools to analyze user behaviors, site traffic, and content effectiveness and make data-informed changes to web content and navigation.
  • Leverage analytics to determine the effectiveness of activities and make continual improvements.

● Execute quality assurance testing of projects to validate data and functionality.
● Respond to incidents and requests for service and support

  • Monitor Wrike project management ticketing system to acknowledge and prioritize incidents and requests for service and support.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills and content management system knowledge to troubleshoot incidents; work with Extended Studies Marketing and Communications team, Extended Studies technical resources, and other OIT areas as needed.

● Collaborate with team members and Extended Studies web users to provide service and support, and resolve errors as needed.

● Contribute to the creation and maintenance of supporting communications, forms and MarCom reports through the university CRM (Slate) that nurture prospective students through enrollment.

● Contribute to strategic planning and implementation of new and existing web and CRM features to improve the student user experience.

● Collect and analyze ongoing campaigns for ROI, traffic, form submissions and other key metrics and schedule updates based on trends from performance data.

● Support purchased list communications through data uploads, communication plan build-out and regular reporting.

● Plan and execute usability testing and quality assurance of elements used across all outputs. Ensure media is accessible for all users.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

● Web Analyst will possess the following work attributes: highly analytical, detail oriented, problem solver, multi-tasker and self-starter with ability to work in a deadline driven environment.
● Significant knowledge of web analytics and SEO strategies, including Google Analytics.
● Ability to consolidate large amounts of data into digestible and presentable highlights for a broad spectrum of users from within the University community and for outside vendors.
● Ability to review, improve and implement SEO strategies across University online channels on an on-going basis through analysis and consultation within the University community and with outside vendors.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 2 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

● 3–5 years of experience in web analytics, UX optimization or digital marketing, preferably in higher education or a large organization.
● 2+ years of experience designing and optimizing landing pages.
● 3+ years of experience managing or optimizing websites in a CMS (e.g., Drupal, WordPress, Cascade CMS).
● 2+ years of experience leading A/B testing or conversion rate optimization (CRO) initiatives with measurable results.
● 2–3 years of experience conducting SEO audits and implementing improvements resulting in higher keyword rankings and organic visibility.
● 1–2 years of experience improving website accessibility and ensuring compliance with WCAG 2.1 standards.
● 1+ years of experience working in a CRM (e.g. Slate, Salesforce).

Salary and Benefits:
