Job Summary/Basic Function:

This is a part-time, 20-hour per week, benefit-eligible position. The anticipated start date is June 1st.
The Minors on Campus Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that staff and volunteers who participate in camps, programs, or activities involving minors complete required background checks and minor abuse prevention training. The Minors on Campus Coordinator also helps ensure that departments and other outside entities develop appropriate standards of conduct for program staff and volunteers, safety protocols, and other best practices for working with minors.

Department Overview:

The Office of Institutional Compliance and Ethics is responsible for coordinating compliance oversight, monitoring, and reporting at the institutional level. To help meet University goals and state and federal requirements, the Office of Compliance and Ethics exists to:
● Enhance employee due diligence to proactively detect, report, and respond to actual or perceived violations of law or policy and manage the University’s Compliance Reporting Hotline.
● Enhance the coordination, efficiency, and effectiveness of compliance activities.
● Optimize compliance with policies, procedures, and guidelines.
● Assess risks and measure adherence to compliance requirements.
● Mitigate risks of non-compliance, including monetary fines, reputational risk, and loss of public trust.
● Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, and adherence to the University’s Standards of Conduct.

Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry-level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

60% of the time, the Minors on Campus Coordinator must:
● Act as a subject matter expert on the protection of minors on campus, ensuring that University policy comports with law and best practices by tracking legal changes and practices of peer institutions.
● Respond to inquiries and requests from faculty, staff, visitors, parents, and outside agencies regarding the interpretation of policies and procedures related to minors on campus.
● Develop and implement policies and procedures necessary for program administration and oversight to limit the potential for adverse events and minimize liability exposure.
● Provide ongoing direction to youth program leadership on the implementation of procedures to ensure policy compliance.
● Coordinate with stakeholders on campus to develop unified camp/program registration forms and standards of conduct.
● Track and certify programs involving up to 70,000 kids per year.
● Maintain an inventory of activities involving minors that are sponsored by the University or take place at University facilities.
● Monitor background check clearance for persons working with minors.
● Work with camps and programs involving minors to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, including staff training, registration, and adherence to supervisory ratio guidelines.
● Coordinate the collection of the Minors on Campus program fee from departments.

35% of the time:
● Conduct training and outreach regarding the Boise State Minors on Campus Program and the prevention of child abuse.
● Develop and implement educational programs regarding minor safety, appropriate interactions with minors, and other regulatory requirements related to the protection of minors.
● Create educational resources, template forms, instructional materials, and communications to areas sponsoring youth programming with a focus on continually improving services and programs to enhance youth safety best practices.
● Serve on committees and boards related to minors on campus.
5% of the time:
● Perform other duties as assigned, primarily those necessary to support the core functioning of the Office of Compliance and Ethics, including administrative support.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

● 1+ years of management of youth programming experience.
● Deep knowledge of legal requirements and best practices related to the protection of minors; capacity to become an expert in this area.
● Documented experience creating, implementing, and facilitating training programs.
Salary and Benefits:
