Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Data Analyst administers surveys using Qualtrics and prepares comprehensive statistical and narrative reports, translating complex social and behavioral data into clear visualizations and actionable insights for both academic and general audiences. This role requires expertise in social and behavioral health data, quantitative analysis, statistical modeling, and programming using tools such as R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, and Power BI, with a strong emphasis on data quality, integrity, and compliance.

The position is responsible for managing data systems, developing dashboards, streamlining processes, and supporting research initiatives. Through cross-functional collaboration, the Data Analyst provides meaningful workforce analytics that support data-driven decision-making across departments. This role contributes to organizational strategy by enhancing understanding, planning, and engagement, and by presenting workforce data to advise leadership and guide departmental priorities based on key metrics and analysis.

Communities for Youth is an Idaho-based organization dedicated to engaging with our communities to create upstream prevention approaches to promote youth well-being. Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Essential Functions:

90% of the time, the Data Analyst must:

  • Prepare and present statistical and narrative reports on social and behavioral health data with a strong emphasis on accuracy and detail.
  • Analyze and summarize data using clear, visually compelling charts and graphs to support understanding across the organization.
  • Generate and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders through written reports, presentations, charts, and meetings.
  • Produce standard and ad hoc reports tailored to varying levels of detail and audience needs.
  • Respond to internal and external data requests.
  • Adhere to all survey and reporting requirements.
  • Design, administer, and manage surveys in Qualtrics, including coordination of consent and data collection processes.
  • Develop and document procedures to improve efficiency and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams to manage, analyze, interpret, and report research data.
  • Apply statistical and quantitative analysis techniques, including programming and modeling using tools such as R, MATLAB, Stata, SPSS, SAS, or similar software.
  • Maintain knowledge of research protocols and support studies requiring advanced coordination, data abstraction, and analysis.
  • Develop, maintain, and update data dashboards using tools such as Power BI.
  • Recommend improvements to study design, data collection methods, and analytical approaches.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to survey design, data collection, data quality, data transfer, and analysis.
  • Clean, integrate, and manage data within databases; update summary files and fulfill additional data requests.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and confidentiality through established protocols and quality assurance processes.
  • Contribute to grant proposals, project reports, and manuscripts for publication.
  • Present data insights and findings to project teams and organizational leadership.
  • Support strategic planning and business analytics to improve organizational performance and data-driven decision-making.

10% of the time, the Data Analyst must:

  • Maintain strong partnerships with all stakeholders at both the local and international levels.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet organizational needs.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to take initiative and exercise independent judgment in the absence of established guidelines or procedures.
  • Ability to research complex issues, facilitate meetings, and support decision-making processes independently.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience using presentation and data collection tools.
  • Experience applying analytical methods to business problems to drive improved decision-making and outcomes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel analytics, statistical analysis, survey tools, and research methodologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a related discipline(s) listed above.
  • Three years of experience relevant to the job description provided above.
  • Proficient in Qualtrics.
  • Proficient in statistical software such as R, Matlab, SPSS, Stata, SAS, or other similar programs.
  • Proficient in PowerBI.
  • Experience with data visualization and data communication for various audiences.
  • Experience with non-profit, health-related data, or social-behavioural data.
  • Experience with partner/client management and support.
  • Experience with survey administration, IRB, and consent collection.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary range is $55,057.60 to $68,827.20 annually and is commensurate with experience. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
