Boise State University’s College of Business and Economics invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor in Economics to teach in our nationally ranked Online MBA program. This role supports a high-impact, fully online learning experience designed for working professionals across the country.

The initial appointment will begin in Fall 2026, with the expectation of teaching approximately one 4-credit course per semester (including Summer) in a 7-week format. Courses are delivered fully online in an asynchronous format. Applicants need not be local.

Primary Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate-level business economics courses within the Online MBA program
  • Deliver applied, practice-oriented instruction with a focus on managerial decision-making
  • Facilitate engaging online learning experiences for working professionals
  • Provide timely feedback and maintain regular communication with students
  • Collaborate with program staff and an instructional designer to support course delivery and continuous improvement

Course Content Focus

  • Currently, the course is a Global Economics course focused on international trade, economies, labor markets and currency exchange. There is desire to update this course to a broader Economics curriculum that will include:
    • Applied microeconomics and macroeconomics in a business context
    • Managerial implications of economic theory
    • Decision-making under uncertainty and market analysis

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD or terminal degree in Economics or a closely related field (ABD candidates will be considered)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching at the graduate level, particularly in online environments
  • Relevant industry or professional experience applying economics in business settings
  • Familiarity with Canvas or similar learning management systems
  • Experience designing or delivering online or hybrid courses

About the College and Program

The Online MBA at Boise State University is designed for working professionals seeking flexible, high-quality graduate education. Economics is a core course in the curriculum, providing students with critical tools for strategic and data-informed decision-making. Faculty in the program have the opportunity to engage with a broad, experienced student population representing industries across the country.

Compensation

Compensation follows standard MBA adjunct rates. The current rate is $6,564 for a 4-credit online course, with additional compensation provided for enrollments exceeding 60 students. Additional compensation may be available for course re-development work if significant changes are made to the course.

Additional Information

This is a remote teaching opportunity with course delivery fully online. Boise State provides instructional design support to assist with course development and ongoing course maintenance. Additionally, teaching assistants (or “coaches”) are available to assist with basic grading.
