Position overview:
The Clinical Assistant Professor – Field Coordinator supports the School of Social Work’s field education program, with primary responsibility for students enrolled in the fully online MSW program. This 12-month position coordinates, develops, assesses, and manages practicum placements and agency partnerships across the United States. Responsibilities include teaching online field seminars; serving as a faculty field liaison; supporting students, field instructors, and agency partners throughout the practicum experience; and assisting with accreditation, compliance, training, and program assessment activities related to field education.
The Field Coordinator collaborates closely with the Field Education Director, Program Coordinators, faculty, and community partners to support student success and maintain high-quality field education experiences aligned with CSWE accreditation standards.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The university is unable to sponsor employment visas for this position. This position may be based in Boise, Idaho, or approved for remote work within the United States. The anticipated start date is August 2026 for the Fall 2026 semester.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate and support practicum placements, agency partnerships, and field education activities for online MSW students.

Serve as faculty liaison for assigned students and teach online and/or face-to-face field seminar courses.

Recruit, develop, and maintain relationships with practicum agencies and field instructors nationwide.

Support field instructors and students through training, consultation, problem-solving, and ongoing communication regarding practicum expectations and student progress.

Assist with field education program assessment, accreditation compliance, curriculum implementation, and continuous improvement efforts.

Maintain field education records, databases, forms, manuals, and related documentation.

Evaluate practicum placements and assist in resolving student, agency, or field-related concerns.

Participate in School of Social Work committees and other service activities as assigned.

Collaborate with faculty and program leadership to support quality field education experiences and student success.
The School:
Housed within the College of Health Sciences at Boise State University, the School of Social Work prepares graduates in Idaho, the Pacific Northwest, and throughout the country for beginning and advanced social work practice. Our programs are rigorous and our faculty provide a comprehensive and interactive in-person and online education. Our curriculum is informed by a recognition of the critical importance of diversity and an understanding of cultural, political, and socio-historical contexts for social work education, practice, and research. Today the School has the largest graduate program at the University. The 280 undergraduate students and 539 graduate students (89 face-to-face and 450 online) are served by 23 full-time faculty. In addition to the undergraduate BSW program, the School also offers both the Full-Program MSW and the Advanced Standing MSW options. All social work programs have been reaffirmed for accreditation through February 2027 by the CSWE.

Minimum qualifications:

Master’s degree in Social Work and three years of relevant professional experience.

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW).

Experience working with students in field education or practicum settings.
-
Experience working effectively in virtual and hybrid environments, including use of digital collaboration and learning management platforms.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships in online learning environments.
Preferred qualifications:

Doctoral Degree in Social Work (PhD or DSW)

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Knowledge of social work ethics and Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) EPAS standards.

Experience with online or hybrid delivery of social work education.

Experience training, mentoring, or supporting students and field instructors.

Familiarity with student information systems, databases, and standard office software applications.

Knowledge of community-based resources and referral systems.

Commitment to supporting inclusive learning and working environments.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary ranges from $68,000 to $73,000.
