Join the Boise State University Department of Construction Management (CM) as a full-time, 9-month Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor starting Fall 2026, or January 2027. We are seeking dynamic educators with real-world construction management experience and a passion for teaching to help shape the next generation of industry leaders. As part of our accomplished and supportive faculty, you’ll contribute to a thriving, forward-thinking program that’s experiencing exciting growth, including the launch of our new state-of-the-art ESI CM Building. Our department is highly respected in the construction industry, strengthened by an engaged advisory council and robust industry partnerships. These roles are teaching-focused positions that offer the chance to inspire undergraduate students through engaging, face-to-face courses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibility involves teaching students in academic or lab settings. The department is committed to offering a high-quality educational experience for students. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate courses in the following areas: introduction to construction management, construction materials & methods, drawings, specs & codes, construction estimating, scheduling, MEP Systems, construction surveying, construction safety, soils & construction equipment, project management, jobsite management, advanced concrete methods and materials, and/or project cost controls.
The normal teaching load for these positions is 9-12 credit hours per semester (typically, 3-4 courses). The successful candidate will have experience in the US construction industry and be able to bring that experience to the classroom, as well as engage in continuing education to remain up to date in the profession. Faculty are expected to actively explore and integrate the construction technologies and AI applications into their course content, and will have access to campus resources to support this ongoing development.
In addition to teaching, the candidate is expected to actively serve the department. This includes participating in departmental discussions and decision-making regarding departmental activities, course learning outcomes, and program pedagogy. Service activities may involve mentoring students, advising student organizations, and coaching competition teams. The candidate will also serve as a liaison to construction industry representatives. The successful candidate will demonstrate a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.

Minimum Qualifications:
Lecturer:
-
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, architecture, or a related discipline.

A minimum of seven years of US construction industry experience, demonstrating progressive responsibility and practical knowledge of construction operations.
Clinical Assistant Professor:

Master’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, MBA, J.D. or a closely related discipline.

At least five years of US construction industry experience.

Teaching experience in the US Higher Education in a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:

Undergraduate teaching experience in higher education.

Professional licensure, certifications, or industry credentials related to the construction field.

Experience using current construction management technologies and industry software applications.

Experience incorporating emerging technologies, including AI-related tools, into professional practice or instruction.

Active participation in construction-related professional associations or organizations.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary ranges from $80,000 to $90,000. Salary commensurate with experience.
Funding for this position is currently secured for an initial three-year period. Continuation or renewal beyond that period will depend on funding availability, enrollment, performance, and programmatic needs. The position is based on the Boise State University campus in Boise, Idaho, with an anticipated start date of August 2026.

Our standard faculty contract is a 9-month contract with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly, renewable contract. More information about the faculty contract and workdays is available here.
