Position overview:
The Boise State University Department of Strategy & Entrepreneurship , within the College of Business and Economics, is hiring an Assistant Teaching Professor (non tenure-track) in the area of Legal Studies of Business to begin Fall 2027. Although non-tenure track, the position offers salary and promotion opportunities similar to those of tenure-track faculty, including advancement to associate and full teaching professor, and summer research funding. The faculty member will teach legal studies of business and related courses. Courses taught will be a combination of in-person and remote or online. The expected course load is 3-3 per academic year. Teaching faculty must meet college research expectations to be AACSB Scholarly Academic (SA), which includes a terminal degree and research within the legal studies of business discipline. A commitment to service and collegial interaction with other faculty, staff, and students is critical for success.
Department overview:
The Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship is a new department in the College of Business and Economics. The Department houses faculty who teach in Strategy, Entrepreneurship, International Business, Business Ethics, and Legal Studies. The department also houses the College’s undergraduate degree programs in Entrepreneurship and International Business, while its faculty teach courses that are part of the core business curriculum and support programs throughout the College.

Minimum qualifications:

J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school

History of bar membership with no material disciplinary action (active bar membership is not required)

Experience teaching law, legal studies, or a closely related subject at the college or university level, or equivalent instructional experience

Evidence of research / scholarly activity and Scholarly Academic status upon hiring (in the last six years, received J.D. and/or have two or more publications in law reviews, legal journals or peer-reviewed journals in a closely related field)
Preferred qualifications:

Professional legal experience.

Experience or interest in teaching business ethics and/or corporate social responsibility at the undergraduate or graduate level, or equivalent instructional experience.

Record of ongoing research or scholarly activity in law, business ethics, corporate social responsibility, or a closely related field.

An MBA or another advanced degree relevant to the position, in addition to the required J.D.

Salary and Benefits:
Salary is competitive with AACSB medians based on comparable business colleges: $106,700.
