Title: Director of Bates Fund Operations
Position Purpose:
The Director of Bates Fund Operations plays an essential role in leading the processes and procedures for the Annual Giving and Reunion team. The Director of Bates Fund Operations oversees all administrative work, related calendars, programs, and activities for the Bates Fund and the Reunion planning program.
Additionally, the Director of Bates Fund Operations manages annual fundraising campaigns for both Reunion and non-Reunion classes by managing effective volunteer committees, assisting with communications and solicitation strategy, and soliciting prospects in person.

Job Duties:
- Develop and implement procedures and policies related to the Bates Fund mailing, volunteer management, and data practices.
- Serves as the direct manager for the Administrative Assistants on the Annual Giving and Reunion team in the management of the established procedures and policies.
- Serves as the direct manager for one Assistant Director of Annual Giving and Reunion.
- Act as a key strategic partner for the AVP for Annual Giving on all elements of the Bates Fund and Reunion programs.
- Manage projects and communications relating to the training, support, and stewardship of over 600 Bates Fund volunteers. Author and update all broad-based communications for the Bates Fund volunteers to improve for their training and appreciation for their contributions to the college. Partner with the AVP for Annual Giving to oversee the GiveCampus volunteer management system.
- Manage the volunteer strategy for the Annual Giving and Reunion team’s 150 Reunion social volunteers. Develop timelines, messaging, and language for the successful coordination of the Reunion social volunteer program with the entire Annual Giving and Reunion team.
- Supports the AVP for Annual Giving in executing practices and opportunities to strengthen and expand the Bates Fund prospect pool.
- Work with AVP to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in donor behavior to improve effectiveness of solicitation strategies.
- Manage the volunteer-driven fundraising campaigns for 10-20 classes including the Reunion Gift Committees for 2-4 Reunion classes. Recruit lead volunteers and develop inspiring but achievable goals for each class with the purpose of increasing giving and participation to the college – primarily to the Bates Fund.
- Oversee 2-3 Reunion social committees. Recruit lead volunteers and develop inspiring but achievable goals for each class with the purpose of increasing participation and class pride around the respective Reunion classes.
- Increase the percentage of the Bates Fund that comes from Reunion classes by managing the prospect pipeline within the assigned class cohort through prospect discovery work and upgrading donors through the Mount David Society levels.
- Coordinate and lead 2-3 conference calls per class per year, provide updates and reports on a monthly basis, review agent/committee activity and success on a monthly basis, steward and thank all fundraising volunteers.
- Spend 1-2 days per month total connecting with volunteers and donors both at events and through individual and joint in-person, zoom, or phone meetings.
- Assist the AVP for Annual Giving with management of the Bates Fund Executive Committee.
- Work with colleagues in Leadership Gifts, Planned Giving, and Donor Programs to develop new and successful ways of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors as they come into their Reunion year.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Valid driver's license
Experience
- 5+ years of experience working in education organization of comparable complexity and scale preferred.
- 5+ years of volunteer management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate donor or client relationships.
- Demonstrated track record of progressive achievement in fundraising or related metrics-driven environment.
Skills and Knowledge
