Title: Information Systems Manager

Position Purpose:

The Information Systems Manager is a critical component of the Admission department’s technical and operational infrastructure. This position has multifaceted functions responsible for managing Slate, the Admission Customer Relations Management (CRM) system that processes all applications and drives recruitment, enrollment, yield, and communication campaigns. Additionally, the role designs and maintains automated workflows for application review, decision release, and enrollment data synchronization.

Job Duties:

Manager of Slate CRM:

  • Oversee the technical and operational infrastructure of the admissions process, ensuring seamless functionality of Slate CRM to support recruitment, application processing, and enrollment goals.
  • Design and maintain automated workflows for application review, decision release, and data synchronization with institutional systems like Banner and Axiom.
  • Manage day-to-day operations, including communication campaigns, event management, form development, data uploads, and routine system maintenance, while establishing protocols to uphold data quality and integrity.
  • Optimize Slate’s configuration to align with evolving admissions strategies, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing automation to enhance efficiency.
  • Perform regular data clean-up, consolidation of duplicate records, and oversight of annual cycle prep work to update application portals, purge outdated resources, and ensure compliance with institutional privacy policies.
  • Collaborate with ILS and cross-departmental teams to manage system integrations, user permissions, and updates.
  • Prioritize continuous improvement by attending Slate webinars, adopting new integrations,
    and partnering with our Slate Consultant and the Slate Help Desk to resolve complex technical challenges.

Slate Team Coordinator:

  • Oversee Slate working group to identify opportunities to further leverage the use of technology to meet institutional enrollment goals.
  • Provide technical expertise to support the continuous development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of Slate processes across all functional areas.

Slate Training and Support:

  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for Admission staff and cross-departmental users including onboarding new users through personalized sessions, developing user guides, and hosting workshops to enhance proficiency in Slate. 
    Provide tailored functional and technical support to users with varying skill levels, and troubleshoot issues related to permissions, data entry, and system navigation.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for CRM-related concerns.
  • Responsible for assigning user permissions in collaboration with leadership, maintaining customized dashboards, and updating standard operating procedures for training and support workflows. 

Senior Leadership Team (SLT):

  • Serve on committee to strategize with and advise the VP/Dean and Director of Admission on the general direction of the office.
  • Responsible for implementing decisions from the VP/Dean and Director as well as elevating issues as they arise.
    Provide possible solutions, troubleshoot and take action as needed in emergencies.

Cross-Functional Integration:

  • Coordinate and align CRM usage and workflows across Admission, Student Financial Services, and Information & Library Services functions.
  • Lead CRM-related process improvement, data reconciliation, and ensure consistent implementation of policies impacting student data.
  • Work with the Systems Development and Integration department liaison in ILS to test and maintain communication between Slate, Banner, and Axiom.
  • Attend Banner User Group and Data Governance Committee meetings and participate in professional associations and listservs to utilize community support from other institutions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's degree required.

Experience

  • 5-7 years of progressive leadership and managerial experience in admissions operations, enrollment management, or higher education recruitment are required.
  • Strongly preferred qualifications include at least 5 years of experience with CRM systems.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across departments and managing data integration between CRM systems and student information systems (e.g. Banner) is also highly desirable.

Skills and Knowledge

  • The ideal candidate will be particularly knowledgeable with Slate by Technolutions, including configuration, testing, documentation, and support.
  • Expertise in current and emerging policies, practices, and technologies related to admissions operations and enrollment systems.
  • Knowledge of admissions and financial aid operations technology and software gained through relevant education or work experience.
  • Strong technical skills with demonstrated work experience architecting solutions, scripting/ programming, and SQL development.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-oriented environment; highly organized, flexible, and rigorous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (a sense of humor is a plus) with the ability to develop and maintain collegial relationships. Must approach work with a collaborative spirit and nimbleness.
